Graduation Requirements
Graduation from Polytechnic Institute Australia (PIA) confirms that a student has achieved a satisfactory level of academic and professional proficiency in all courses outlined in their individual programme plan.
For both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the primary requirement is the attainment of a minimum number of cumulative credit points.
Monitoring and Approval Process
The Discipline Head monitors student progress and confirms that all course requirements have been met.
Once verified, the Board of Directors (BoD) must approve the graduation.
Eligible students will be notified in writing and asked to nominate whether they will attend a graduation ceremony or graduate in absentia.
Outstanding Debts
Students with outstanding debts to PIA will not be permitted to receive their award until the debt is cleared.
Nested Qualifications
Students enrolled in a higher qualification who have completed the requirements for a nested award within that qualification are not eligible to receive the nested award unless they formally withdraw from their current course.
Upon withdrawal, they will be eligible to graduate with the highest nested qualification they have completed.
Certification Documentation
A student who has completed all requirements for an AQF qualification is entitled to receive:
- A Testamur
- An Academic Transcript
Students who have partially completed an AQF qualification but subsequently withdrawn are entitled to receive an Academic Record.
Revocation of Awards
PIA reserves the right to revoke an award if it is later found that the award was obtained through fraud or dishonesty.
