Facilities

Student Area

The designated student area is a vibrant, social space designed to enhance the PIA experience by offering a variety of facilities tailored to student needs. Central to this area is a well-equipped student kitchen. Whether you’re whipping up a quick snack or sharing a home-cooked meal, this space encourages communal activity and helps build a sense of community.

For those looking to unwind or engage in some friendly competition, the shared spaces provide a welcoming environment to relax or interact with fellow students. Student area offer an excellent way to de-stress between study sessions, while fostering a fun and active atmosphere. These recreational areas create opportunities for students to bond, take a break from academic pressures, and build lasting friendships.

The design of the student area promotes both relaxation and interaction, with plenty of seating for group study sessions or casual socializing. This designated area is the perfect place for students to recharge and connect with one another.

WiFi and internet access

We are committed to supporting student success by providing free Wi-Fi access throughout the entire campus. Whether you’re in the library, a classroom, or relaxing in the student area, you can stay connected to the internet for your academic work and personal needs. With reliable and secure Wi-Fi available to all students, you’ll have the resources you need to succeed, anytime and anywhere on campus.

Virtual Library

As a student at PIA, you have access to a range of online databases which will provide you with academic resources. As part of your study with us, you are expected to demonstrate research from credible sources and make use of these digital databases. You can access these databases here. The resources available from PIA include:

EBSCOhost: This database allows you to access research databases, journals, and academic texts. It is useful for broad searches when you are at the start of your research project and searching for a wide range of materials.

Oxford Academic: This database is quite similar to EBSCOhost but through a different publisher, which allows you access to a different range of materials. We recommend that you use Oxford Academic when you are looking for materials such as full academic books and journals articles.

Oxford Reference: Provided by the same publisher as Oxford Academic, Oxford Reference allows you to access introductory information on a topic or concept. While you will not find very in-depth research, you will find broad and accurate reviews of topics. This is certainly helpful for reviewing ideas, checking your accuracy of certain understandings, and getting started on researching a concept you are not familiar with before you start doing more research.

JSTOR: Another database available to all students. JSTOR has a wide range of academic articles and books, which are largely peer-reviewed materials, which are significantly more trustworthy. JSTOR is also a great resource when you are looking for primary resources and historical research and resources.
